My eID - App User Guide for mobile devices

Overview
The My eID app allows the Cayman Islands Identification Card holder to perform secure authentication and digital signatures with their PIN as consent. This functionality requires the use of software referred to as the My eID app. This user guide provides instructions on how to install and use the app on devices such as Android phones, iPhones, or iPads.

Get Started
To get started with the My eID app, you will need to:

1. Download the My eID App: Ensure you have downloaded the latest version of the My eID app. 
2. Select the method you will be using to add your Cayman Islands Identification Card to the My eID app:
- A mobile phone with NFC support.
- A compatible Smart Card Reader.

Installation of the My eID Mobile App
1. Go to the App Store on your iPhone or iPad, or the Play Store on your Android device, and install the My eID app.
2. Once the installation is complete, the app should appear on your device's home screen.
3. The My eID mobile app is now ready for use.

Add a Device
Before you can start using the My eID mobile app, you will need to add your Cayman Islands Identification Card to the app via NFC or Smart Card Reader.

1. Once opening for the first time, the app will ask to add a device.
2. If the app does not ask to add a device, from the bottom menu of the app select Identity (on Android) or Devices (on iPhone/iPad). Then select the + in the top right of the screen.
3. Select NFC Smart Card if you are using the app with your Cayman Islands Identification Card with NFC (without a card reader) or select MiniLector Blue if you are using the app with the supported Smart Card Reader.
4. Enter a Card Name (you can use any Card Name to help you easily identify the device) and then enter the PIN associated with your card.
5. If using the Card contactless without a Card Reader, you will be prompted on where to place your card on your device. On the iPhone, it should be placed at the top. On Android, it is placed at the back of the device.
6. When the card has been successfully added, you will see the message - Operation successfully completed.

How to Sign a PDF Document
The My eID mobile app can be used to apply your digital signature to a document.

1. If using a Card Reader, ensure the toggle switch on the Reader is turned to Bluetooth mode, and Bluetooth should also be switched on via your device settings. Ensure your Card is inserted with the barcode facing up.
2. Select Sign from the top menu of the app.
3. Tap Browse to locate the document you want to sign.
4. Select PAdES as your document type.
5. Toggle on PDF graphic signature if you would like a visual representation on the document.
6. Toggle on Automatic-georeferencing if you would like the location when the document was signed to be displayed.

If PDF graphic signature was toggled on, a visual representation of your signature will be displayed on the screen.

7. Drag the digital signature image where you would like it displayed on the document.
8. Click Next.
9. Under Authentication, choose the device that will be used to digitally sign the document and enter the PIN associated with your Card.
10. Select the blue icon on the right to move to the next step.

Verify your ID Card

11. You will feel the phone vibrate when the card is in the correct location and is being read.
12. Keep the card steady until you get a “Your card was read successfully” message.
13. You have completed the process.

View your Signed Documents
The My eID mobile app allows you access any documents digitally signed on the app and saved on your device.

1. Select History from the top menu of the app.
2. A list of files digitally signed and saved on your device is displayed.
3. Click on the file to preview the file.
4. Swipe right on the selected file to verify, share or delete the file.

Verify a Digitally Signed Document
The My eID mobile app allows you to verify a digital signature on a digitally signed document.

Select one of the below methods to verify a signature.
Option 1: Upload the file directly within the My eID mobile app.
Option 2: Open a downloaded file and share it to the My eID mobile app.
Option 3: Open an email attachment and share it to the My eID mobile app.

The app will conduct the verification of the file and produce a “Verification report”

Change PIN
The My eID mobile app can be used to change the PIN on your Cayman Islands Identification Card.

1. Select Identity from the bottom toolbar.
2. If using a Smart Card Reader:
     a) Ensure the toggle switch on the Reader is turned to Bluetooth mode. Bluetooth should also be enabled on your mobile device through the device settings.
     b) Insert your Card into the Reader with the barcode facing up.
3. Select the Device or Card for which you want to update the PIN.
4. Under Operations, select Change PIN.
5. Enter your old PIN as prompted. Your PIN should be between 4 to 16 alphanumeric digits.
6. Enter your new PIN again for confirmation.
7. Once the box turns blue, click Change PIN.
8. Scan your Card.
9. You have completed the process.
