My eID - How to Install My eID Mobile App on Android Devices and Add an ID Card via NFC or Smart Card Readers

Install the My eID app

 1. Find and download the My eID app on the Google Play Store.
Once the download is completed, the app should appear on your home screen

2. Open the My eID app

3. Add an identity

- When opening the app for the first time, the app will prompt you to add a device.

- Alternatively, select Identity from the bottom toolbar.

- Select ‘+’ located at the top right of the screen.

4. Select your device type

To add a card, you are able to do so by selecting one of the following options:

a) NFC Smart Card if you are adding your ID Card via NFC, or
b) MiniLector Blue if you are adding your ID Card via the Smart Card Reader

Adding a card using NFC Smart Card (if using a Smart Card Reader, skip to Step 8)

5. Enter your Card Name and Pin

- Enter a Card Name, this can be anything you'd like to use to easily identify the Card. 
- Enter your PIN, this would have been created when you first setup your Card.

6. Scan the Card by placing it on the back of your phone as directed

- This would normally be at the center of the back of your phone.
- You will feel the phone vibrate when the Card is in the correct location and is being read. Keep the Card steady until it has been successfully added.

7. You have completed the process

- When the Card has been successfully added, you will receive a Congratulations! message.
- Your Card should now appear in the Identity List.

Adding your identity using the Smart Card Reader

8. Prepare your Smart Card Reader

- Insert the Card, photo-first into the reader. The bar code should be facing up, and the photo should be inserted into the slot.
- You should keep the Card Reader within a close proximity, but it does not need to be touching the phone.
- Ensure the side toggle switch on the Reader is turned to Bluetooth mode.
- Bluetooth should also be switched on via your Android device settings.

9. Select your device under the Discovered devices list

10. You have completed the process
Your Card should now appear in the Identity List.
