Overview
With the My eID mobile app, signing PDF documents is quick and convenient. You can open PDFs from your phone's storage, directly from email attachments, or upload them within the app. Signing takes just a few taps.
There are several ways to digitally sign a PDF using the app:
Option 1: Directly within the app
Option 2: From email attachments
Option 3: From your phone's storage
Option 1: Directly within the app
1. Open the My eID app
Note: If using a Smart Card Reader: Ensure the toggle switch on the Reader is turned to Bluetooth mode, and Bluetooth should also be switched on via your device settings.
Ensure your card is inserted chip-first with the barcode facing up.
Choose your file
2. Select Sign from the top menu of the app
You will be prompted to locate the document from your phone files that you would like to sign with your digital signature.
3. Select the document you want to sign
4. For signing a PDF document, select PAdES as your document type
5. Toggle on PDF graphic signature if you would like a visual representation on the document
6. Toggle on Automatic-georeferencing if you would like the location when the document was signed to be displayed.
Place your digital signature
7. Drag the digital signature image where you would like it displayed on the document
8. Click Next
9. Under Authentication, choose the device/identity that will be used to digitally sign the document and enter the PIN associated with your Card.
10. Select the blue icon on the right to move to the next step.
Verify your ID Card
If using the Smart Card Reader, the app will automatically start scanning for your device, ensure the side toggle is switched to Bluetooth mode.
If using an NFC, scan the card by placing it on your phone as directed.
Note: For iOS devices, this would normally be at the top of your phone.
For Android devices, this would normally be at the back center of your phone.
11. You will feel the phone vibrate when the card is in the correct location and is being read.
12. Keep the card steady until you get a “Your card was read successfully” message
13.You have completed the process
When the document has been successfully updated, you will receive a success message
Option 2: Open a PDF directly from email attachments.
Open the email containing the PDF attachment.
Tap on the PDF attachment and choose the Open With option.
Select My eID Signature from the list of available apps to open the PDF in the app.
Option 3: Open a PDF from your phone's storage.
Browse through your files on your mobile device to find the PDF you wish to sign.
Select the PDF file, and choose the Open With option.
Select My eID Signature from the list of available apps to open the PDF in the app.
