The Cayman Islands Identification Card, also known as My eID, provides residents with a secure and convenient way to verify their identity and access various digital and in-person services. This guide outlines the steps, rules, and eligibility requirements for applying for your My eID card.

General Application Rules
- If an applicant for a Cayman Islands Identification Card is incapacitated or is under the care and custody of a public institution (prison, retirement home etc.) and cannot appear before a registering officer, the incapacitated person, institutionalized person, or any person authorized to act on their behalf must inform the Registrar of the circumstances in writing.
- If you are enrolling a minor (under 18 years old), you must be the parent or legal guardian for the child with legal parental support documents.
- The contact information provided on the application should be one of the parent or guardian
- If documents are not in English, certified translations must be provided
- If you are required to complete the Declaration of Identity Form, please see the Qualified list of Referees and ensure that a copy of their Identification is included with the form:
- Notary
- JP
- Police (Inspector and above)
- Member of Parliament/ Government Officials (past and present members of Parliament/ Legislative assembly)
- Senior Civil Servants (Managers and above) but not someone who works for any other Cayman Islands Government entity involved in the processing or issuance of Cayman Islands Identification Cards or enrollment in the Identification Register
- Cayman Islands Registered Medical Professional
- Minister of a recognised religion - including Christian Science
- Local Lawyer
- School Principal
- If your name differs from the one on your Identification document, you’ll be required to submit a Proof of name change
- If your name includes a suffix as indicated on your identification document, please add the suffix at the end of your last name.
- Scanned documents should be clear and legible.
- The applicant should be able to sit in front of an ID officer to be photographed to be able to get an Identification card, with the exception of persons in the care of public institutions, incarcerated or institutionalized
Note: If a passport is not used as proof of identity, the application may take longer to process.
Who Can Apply?
You may apply for a Cayman Islands Identification Card if you are:
- A Caymanian.
- A current or former holder of Permanent Residency in the Cayman Islands.
- A non-Caymanian born in the Cayman Islands.
- A current or previous work permit holder.
- A current or previous employee of the Cayman Islands Government.
- A person granted asylum under the Customs and Border Control Act (2022 Revision).
- A non-Caymanian who was previously a legal resident of the Cayman Islands.
- The parent, child, civil partner, or authorized representative of someone who meets the above criteria.
Other proof of eligibility may also qualify for enrollment in the Identification Register.
Confirm Eligibility
Before applying, ensure that you meet the following criteria:
- Resident Status: You must be a Caymanian, permanent resident, or legally residing in the Cayman Islands.
Prepare Required Documents
Gather the following documents:
1. Proof of Identity:
- Primary: Passport.
- If unavailable, provide two secondary IDs (e.g., birth certificate, national ID, immigration document).
2. Proof of Address:
- A recent utility bill, lease agreement, or other documentation showing your current address.
3. Immigration Status (if applicable):
- Residency certificate, work permit, or similar documentation confirming legal status.
Note: All documents must be originals or certified copies. Ensure accuracy and clarity.
Submit Your Application
You can submit your application online or in person:
Online Portal
1. Visit the My eID website.
2. Complete the online form and upload scanned copies of your documents.
3. Submit the application. You will receive an email confirmation with further instructions.
In-Person Submission
1. Visit the Cayman Islands Identification Card customer centre at:
- 89 Nexus Way, Suite 8210, Camana Bay, Grand Cayman.
2. Bring your documents and fill out the application form at the centre.
3. Submit your application for review.
Processing Times and Next Steps
- Standard Processing Time: 10 business days from the date of submission.
- After submission, you’ll receive a confirmation receipt (digital or physical).
- Once your card is ready, pick it up at the designated location or arrange for delivery (if applicable).

- Full Legal Name: Enter your name as it appears on your ID.
- Date of Birth: Format (DD/MM/YYYY).
- Gender: Select Male or Female.
- Nationality: Indicate your primary nationality (and secondary if applicable).
- Immigration Category: Select your immigration status as confirmed by WORC or another authority.
Upload Proof of Identity
- Primary ID: Upload a copy of your passport.
- Secondary ID: If necessary, upload two secondary IDs.
