Caymanian and Non-Caymanian Driver’s Licence Fees

General Fee Eligibility

1. What is the Implementation Date?

The implementation is September 1, 2026.

2. How will DVDL determine which fee applies to me?

Your fee eligibility will be verified using an approved data source. The information returned must match your authenticated Online Portal profile.

3. What are the fee-eligibility categories?

Customers will be placed into one of the following categories:

• Eligible for Caymanian Fee;
• Non-Caymanian – Ineligible for Caymanian Fee; or
• Undetermined – Manual Verification Required.

4. Who is eligible for the Caymanian fee?

The Caymanian fee applies to customers who are:

• Verified as Caymanian; or
• Verified as qualifying for the Caymanian fee under another approved category, such as being the spouse or civil partner of a Caymanian.
• Caymanian (1977 Immigration Act)
• Passport and/or Birth Certificate (Generational Caymanian)
• Cayman Status Certificate or Letter (WORC)
• Marriage or Civil Partner Certificate (WORC)
• Acknowledgement Certificate or Letter (WORC)

5. Who must pay the Non-Caymanian fee?

The Non-Caymanian fee applies when the customer is verified as an Ineligible Non-Caymanian and does not qualify under another approved Caymanian fee-eligibility category.

• Naturalisation
• Residency & Employment Rights Certification (RERC)
• Government Contracted Employees- Contract or Work Permit Stamp
• Permanent Residence
• BOTC Status
• Divorce Decree of Dissolution Certificate or other Legal Document
• Geneva Transfers
• Passport with Work Permit Stamp or Residency

6. Does being married to or in a civil partnership with a Caymanian make you a Caymanian?

No. A verified spouse or civil partner may qualify for the Caymanian fee, but this does not change the person’s legal status to Caymanian. See Question #4 for the requirement, you must produce.

7. What happens if my marriage or civil partnership is dissolved?

Your eligibility must be reassessed. If you no longer qualify under another approved category, the applicable Non-Caymanian fee will be charged.
