By renewing early, you ensure that you do not unknowingly drive your vehicle with an expired licence. Under the Traffic Act you can renew your vehicle’s licence up to 6 months before the expiry date of the licence. However, the online portal will only allow you to renew your vehicle up to 1 month prior to the expiry of the vehicle’s licence.
An early renewal application will not deny you any of the days still left on your present vehicle’s licence. Instead, the new licence period will be added onto your current one and will include the days remaining on the present licence.
