Before providing financial assistance, the DFA will conduct an assessment to determine if a person qualifies for financial assistance from the DFA (see answer to “Who qualifies for financial assistance?”), the type of assistance that can be provided and the amount (see answer to “How much financial assistance can I get?”).
Relief services are available for qualifying residents to meet shortfalls determined by the financial assessment. Assistance may be in any of the following forms:
See “What assistance is available?” the assistance for qualifying persons may be in any of the following forms:
- Food vouchers
- Accommodation payment (rent / rental deposit (one time) and mortgage assistance)
- Utility payment
- Payment for school fees (preschool), uniforms, school shoes, school supplies, afterschool programmes and children's camps
- Payment for medical supplies, medical travel, dental and optical costs
- Long Term Financial Assistance (LTFA) for older and disabled persons.
