- As a “new resident” or a “visitor” to the Cayman Islands, the Act allows you twelve months on which to legally drive. After the twelve months, you will have to sit and pass both the written and road exams. If the written exam is done within the twelve months of residency, you need only take and pass the written exam provided you hold a valid driver’s licence from a Geneva country for the class of vehicle to be driven.
- Citizen of the UK and person holding a valid driver’s licensing from countries specified here, may exchange there domestic License of a Cayman Island Drivers License without doing a written or road exam.
- If you are NOT a holder of a licence from a Geneva Convention country, i.e. Honduras or Colombia, you can only drive on your foreign driver’s licence for ONE month and MUST sit and pass both the written and road exams .
