Gamification Elements
Gamification includes 4 elements:
- Levels: 5 levels are available, to mark learners' invested effort in eLearning
- Badges: the visual element of achievement and participation for learning, activities and levels
- Activities: actions which mark learners' engagement
- Leaderboards and Widgets: to share learners' achievements across the portal
Automatically Assigned Badges
The following badges are automatically assigned to learners:
Activity Badges
- Approved External Credit (Learning Outside the box)
- Self Enrolls (Hungry for Knowledge)
- Views a Resource (New Resource=New Ideas)
- Daily Learning (Daily Learning)
Level Badges
A new badge is automatically assigned once learners reach the level points.
- Level 1: Star Forming - 0-799 points
- Level 2: Protostar - 800-1799 points
- Level 3: Rising Star - 1800-2999 points
- Level 4: Shining Star - 3000-4499 points
- Level 5: Superstar - 4500+ points
Rules for Assigning Completion Badges to Courses and Learning Paths
Courses/Learning Paths that are less than 20 minutes and LinkedIn Learning courses are not eligible for assigning completion badges.
Course Completion Badges
Course Completion badges should be assigned as follows:
Gold Badge
- Courses lasting over 1 month
- Includes specialised certification courses
- Does not include on-demand courses
Silver Badge
- Courses over 1 week but less than one month
- Includes specialised certification courses
- Does not include on-demand courses
Bronze Badge
- Courses that are 20 minutes to a week
- Includes specialised certification courses
- Includes on-demand courses
Strong Skills Badge
- Courses lasting over 1 month
- Includes specialised certification courses
- Does not include on-demand courses
Learning Path Badges
Gold Badge
- Paths lasting over 1 month
- Includes specialised certification courses/paths
- Does not include on-demand courses/paths
Silver Badge
- Paths over 1 week but less than one month
- Includes specialised certification courses/paths
- Does not include on-demand courses/paths
Bronze Badge
- Paths that are 1 hour to a week
- Includes specialised certification courses/paths
- Includes on-demand courses/paths
Strong Skills Badge
- Paths lasting over 1 month
- Includes specialised certification courses
- Does not include on-demand courses/paths
Assigning Completion Badges to Courses and Learning Paths
Once your course/learning path aligns with the rules above, to assign a completion badge:
- Within the Info page of the course/learning path, click on the Learning Badges tab
- Click in the Add Learning Badge space
- Select the badge from the drop-down Badge Awarded field
- Click Save.
